Sweet Fields

What would a trip to Queensland be without some shots of sugarcane? Since I saw the amazing photos set in sugarcane fields by Oracle Fox, I knew we'd have to stop and take some of our own. My grandma thought we were absolutely insane when we pulled over by the side of the highway and disappeared into the field.

I have had a few questions about my photos - so should say that Ian takes all my photos (except the ones that aren't of me, which I take). He is incredibly patient with my inarticulate direction and mad gesturing. He was also so kind as to remind me, during this shoot, how much snakes and spiders like to hang out in sugarcane.

Outfit details:
Dress - vintage from e-bay
Belt - vintage from Love Vintage fair
Shoes - Clark's originals - bored of these yet?

  3. Great photos! But I agree with Nana, you a totally insane!! Snakes/spiders LOVE those sort of fields, and I mean the nasty, will-kill-you-in-hours kind. Well, I'm just glad you told me about the photos AFTER you were safely back from the fields. :-) Okay, big sister rant over. I especially love the first photo, are you going to get some prints to put around the house?

  4. Fret not! I made lots of noise to frighten them off! Besides.. I live to tell the tale.

Speaking of spiders though, I was chased down the stairs last night by a huntsman - it literally ran after me! All the way! It was the BIGGEST spider I have ever seen. Think dad's hand-span type big!

I really like the second last photo with you sitting on the cart wheel Rebeccak ~ it looks cool.

You are braver than me though ~ I don't know if I could tromp around in a cane field in just sandals...

  7. Your photoshoots are increasingly amazing, although I think risking snakebites might be taking the blog a bit too seriously!

  12. The 3rd picture is amazing, it was worth the venture into the sugar cane. The set makes me of think of small country towns during The Depression Era, like you're about to run off to the General Store after playing in the sugar cane.
